The Bold Lines and Limitless Imagination of a Comics Creator

Section image

With over two decades in the comics and illustration world, Albert Morales is a name that stands for passion, persistence, and creativity. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Albert is the lead cartoonist and founder of Angry Rooster Studios, and his work has appeared with major publishers and cultural institutions including Marvel, Upper Deck, Humanoids, and the Billy Ireland Cartoon Art Museum at Ohio State University.

Albert’s creative journey began in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he started selling his own artwork at just nine years old. Since then, his credits have included projects such as Fleer Ultra X-Men, Fleer Ultra Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Premier 2017, Game On Expo, and U-Haul International. His comic strip Super Impacto vs. The World was recently added to the archives at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Art Museum, and he’s a proud contributor to The LatinX Project: Tales from La Vida, a celebrated anthology highlighting the voices of Latinx cartoonists.

Morales approaches art as both craft and business, bringing the same discipline and innovation to his entrepreneurial projects as he does to his drawings. “Art is a sensitive creature,” he explains, “and you have to nurture it and sell it so that it becomes more.” Known for his energy and competitive drive, Albert constantly seeks new ways to stretch his creativity — whether designing fine art pieces, illustrating superheroes, or writing original graphic novels like Annihilation Jonesand Super Impacto.

Beyond his studio, Albert has become a respected mentor and advocate for the independent comics community. He champions greater visibility for creator-owned books and diverse voices in comics, pushing to “kick down the door—or at least open it a little wider—for fresh perspectives.”

For Morales, art is about connection — the moment when a fan’s eyes light up, a creator nods in appreciation, or a new friendship is born through shared creative passion. His philosophy is simple: compete, grow, and make an impact.
