Meet Author Monique Couillard-Nelson at the Scottsdale Book Festival

Meet Monique Couillard-Nelson, a longtime pediatric nurse, educator, and Arizona native dedicated to empowering parents with confidence, clarity, and trusted guidance. With more than 30 years of pediatric nursing and triage experience, Monique has spent her career supporting families through some of their most important and vulnerable moments.

Monique earned her Bachelor of Science in biology and pre-med from Arizona State University, followed by a nursing degree with a clinical focus in pediatrics. Since 1994, she has worked across pediatric care settings and has been teaching parenting classes for over 26 years, helping new and expectant parents feel prepared, informed, and supported.

In addition to her teaching work, Monique serves full-time as an infusion science specialist and nurse educator in medical affairs, while continuing to attend conferences and ongoing education to stay current in best practices. Her passion lies in infant care, patient advocacy, and parent education, ensuring families have reliable, compassionate resources during the first years of life.

Outside of her professional life, Monique enjoys traveling and spending meaningful time with her husband and two adult children.

Her book is designed as an easy-to-follow parenting class in book form, featuring 23 chapters that guide families from pregnancy through preschool. While it includes helpful insights on pregnancy and the postpartum period, the heart of the book focuses on infant care and the first year of parenting, offering practical, approachable guidance rooted in decades of real-world experience.
