Born and raised in Arizona, Ryan spent much of his life at Apache Lake Marina and Resort, the family business his relatives owned and operated for nearly five decades. Surrounded by the Superstition Mountains and Four Peaks Wilderness, he began working at the resort when he was just five years old and eventually experienced nearly every aspect of life on the lake.
Those years gave Ryan more than an understanding of a remarkable Arizona destination. They connected him to the history of Apache Lake, the surrounding wilderness, and generations of people drawn to a remote landscape shaped by water, mountains, weather, and change.
In 2020, that connection took on new meaning when Ryan survived a flash flood that affected a group of boaters on Apache Lake following devastating wildfires and historic storms. The experience became another chapter in a life closely tied to Arizona's natural environment and the powerful forces that continue to reshape it.
Ryan has remained rooted in Arizona, earning a Master's degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and volunteering with local nonprofits focused on environmental restoration. Today, he continues to spend time immersed in nature while drawing from a lifetime of experiences few people have had the opportunity to witness firsthand.

Ryan Schuster was born and raised in Arizona and grew up working at Apache Lake Marina and Resort, the business his family owned and operated from 1974 to 2021. He brings a unique perspective, having grown up on the water deep within the Superstition Mountains and Four Peaks Wilderness, working every job under the sun starting when he was five years old. Over the years, he developed a deep understanding of the lake, its history, and a connection to the people drawn to it.
Ryan is a survivor of a 2020 flash flood that affected a group of boaters on Apache Lake, which was a result of recent wildfires and historic storms. He’s remained rooted in Arizona, having earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and volunteering with local nonprofits focused on environmental restoration. Ryan currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona and enjoys spending his time being immersed in nature.
