Meet Diane Mylod Rodriguez — bilingual children’s book author, educator, and storyteller dedicated to honoring heritage, family, and the power of representation. As the author of two bilingual picture books, The Avocado Tree and First Generation Gratitude, Diane creates stories that reflect the lived experiences, traditions, and voices of Mexican American families.
Born and raised in Arizona to Mexican immigrant parents, Diane grew up speaking Spanish as her first language — a foundation that shaped her identity, her teaching, and her writing. For 14 years, she has served as a passionate educator in both public and charter schools, inspiring students through literacy, cultural pride, and compassionate leadership.
Diane is also a certified yoga instructor through Yoga Alliance, bringing mindfulness, calm, and grounding to children and adults alike. As a mother of two sons, she infuses every book she writes with warmth, gratitude, and generational love.
Her work shines a light on language, culture, and connection, and encourages young readers to embrace exactly who they are.
✨ Meet Diane Mylod Rodriguez at the Scottsdale Book Festival and discover bilingual stories that celebrate identity, family, and the joy of growing up between cultures.
