Finding Humanity, Wisdom, and Voice Through Stories

Meet Judge Sharron L. Sauls — ASU graduate, community leader, and author whose work bridges her real-world experience in the justice system with her passion for storytelling. Known for her dedication to service and her commitment to educating and uplifting others, Judge Sauls writes books for both children and adults, sharing insights shaped by compassion, integrity, and lived experience.

Her books have been featured at events across Arizona, including the Black Business Summit hosted by the Phoenix Urban League Young Professionals and AKA Sorority, where she continues to inspire readers of all ages.

Despite the weight of her work on the bench, Judge Sauls often reminds students and audiences that judges are real people living real lives.
She’s not just “Judge Sauls”—she’s also a mom, friend, sister, daughter, and someone who reads voraciously, hikes Arizona trails, practices Pilates, travels often, and yes—still does chores just like everyone else.

Through her writing, Judge Sauls offers a grounded and thoughtful perspective on empathy, fairness, responsibility, and the humanity behind every decision made in a courtroom. She speaks candidly about the emotional weight judges carry—granting evictions, issuing orders of protection, determining sentencing—and how deeply those decisions impact individuals and families.

Her work, both on the page and in the community, reflects her belief that storytelling is a powerful tool for understanding people, building empathy, and inspiring young minds to see beyond titles and toward the human heart.

Meet Judge Sharron L. Sauls at the Scottsdale Book Festival and discover stories infused with wisdom, compassion, and real-world perspective.
