Meet Matthew Solberg, writer, publisher, and lifelong comic book fan whose career has helped shape pop culture in Arizona and beyond. For more than twenty years, Matthew has served as the Founder and CEO of Fan Fusion, the annual Phoenix-based pop culture convention he launched in 2002. Today, Fan Fusion is recognized as the largest pop culture convention in the Southwest and one of the most prominent conventions on the national stage.
At heart, Matthew is a storyteller inspired by the same sense of wonder he felt as a twelve-year-old receiving his very first comic book subscription in the mail. That early spark continues to guide his creative work, as he seeks to write stories that feel exciting, heartfelt, humorous, and close to home.
Matthew is the Founder, CEO, and Publisher of Mascot Comics, where he writes The Adventures of Sunset and Meteorand helps bring original characters and worlds to life. Working alongside creators Travis Hanson, Anthony Jude Hernandez (Sunset and Meteor), and Valentino Moreira (La Integridad), Matthew has played a hands-on role in creating every character within the Mascot Comics universe.
Now based in Phoenix since 2001, Matthew continues to champion original storytelling that blends humor, heroism, and imagination — comics designed to entertain, inspire, and reconnect readers with the joy that made them fall in love with stories in the first place.
✨ Meet Matthew Solberg at the Scottsdale Book Festival and explore a world where comics, creativity, and pop culture come together.
