Yemisi Agbebi, known to young readers as Mrs. Abeebe, is an educator and children’s book author whose work is rooted in cultural pride, empathy, and connection. Born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa, Yemisi’s love for storytelling began early in a home filled with books and encouragement. Her late father, her first literary champion, introduced her to the wider world through reading and inspired a lifelong passion for stories that reflect lived experiences and shared humanity.
With over two decades in education, Yemisi’s teaching journey has spanned continents — from classrooms in Nigeria to meaningful years working within the Navajo Nation. These experiences shaped her commitment to culturally relevant education and storytelling, where children see themselves represented while learning to understand and respect others.
She is the author of Mrs. Abeebe’s Culture Academy and its companion coloring book, creating joyful, accessible stories that celebrate identity, curiosity, and learning through culture. Her books invite children to embrace who they are, explore the world with empathy, and discover the power of shared stories.
✨ Meet Mrs. Abeebe (Yemisi Agbebi) at the Scottsdale Book Festival and experience storytelling that builds bridges, celebrates culture, and reminds young readers that their stories matter.
