Meet Whitney J. Lowrey — a special education teacher, professor, and children’s book author dedicated to helping kids feel seen, understood, and valued. With over 10 years of experience in special education, Whitney has worked closely with students of all learning styles, inspiring her mission to create stories that nurture empathy and celebrate individual strengths.

Originally from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Whitney now lives in Arizona with her husband, Scott, and their two baseball-loving boys, Blake and Brixen. When she’s not teaching or writing, she enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, and spending time with her energetic Goldendoodle, Dodger. Her deep love for children, learning, and inclusion shines through her work both inside and outside the classroom.

Whitney’s debut children’s book, Everyone Learns Differently, is a warm and compassionate story told through the eyes of Jett, a second grader who introduces readers to his classmates and the unique ways each of them learns. The book encourages children to embrace differences, show kindness, and appreciate the strengths that make everyone special. The story ends with Jett welcoming a new student in a wheelchair — a meaningful moment that sets the stage for the next book in the series.

Through her writing and teaching, Whitney hopes to help children understand that being different is not only okay — it’s something to celebrate.
